Primary Years Programme (PYP)

LIS is a candidate school for the Primary Years Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy - a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that LIS believes is important for our students.

Only schools authorized by the IB organization can offer any of its three academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), or the Diploma Programme. Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.

The following is a quick guide to the PYP. It will help you understand the basic philosophy of the IB and how the PYP works in an international system.

The Early Years- Preschool and Kindergarten Objectives

(Age Group 2+ For Nursery, 3+ For Pre-Primary And 4+ For K.G Are EARLY YEARS)

• To provide a safe, nurturing environment where children can develop
• To teach each child so he/she may experience challenge and success
• To encourage each student to develop self-care skills and self-responsibility
• To stimulate each student to think, reason, and problem solve
• To prepare students for living, with emphasis on development of independent living skills
• To provide opportunity and activities for development of physical skills.
